Background: Improved player safety is an important goal of professional baseball. Prevention of mild traumatic brain injury (concussion) is an area of emphasis because of the potential for long-term as well as short-term sequelae.

Hypothesis: A rule change can lower the incidence of concussions and other injuries in professional baseball.

Background: Gastric submucosal tumors are often treated by laparoscopic wedge resection. This study aimed to examine the feasibility of gastric full-thickness resection through a totally endoscopic approach using the master and slave transluminal endoscopic robot (MASTER), and closure of the luminal defect with an endoscopic suturing device.

Measurement of bone density around the Oxford medial compartment knee replacement using iDXA. A precision study.

The goal of this study was to evaluate whether the Lunar iDXA densitometer can accurately measure the bone mineral density (BMD) around the tibial component of the Oxford unicompartment knee replacement (UKR). Both knees in 20 patients were measured 3 times in the supine position with repositioning between each scan. We chose 7 regions of interest to evaluate the bone density around the implant.

The early radiological results of the uncemented Oxford medial compartment knee replacement.

We carried out a prospective investigation into the radiological outcomes of uncemented Oxford medial compartment unicondylar replacement in 220 consecutive patients (231 knees) performed in a single centre with a minimum two-year follow-up. The functional outcomes using the mean Oxford knee score and the mean high-activity arthroplasty score were significantly improved over the pre-operative scores (p < 0.001).
