Selective Enzymatic Debridement For The Management Of Acute Upper Limb Burns.

Upper limb burn treatment represents a major medical and surgical challenge. Enzymatic escharolysis is a rather new technique to treat thermal burns in an easy and rapid way, as an alternative to the standard of care. The aim of the study was to investigate and describe the efficacy of treatment of upper limb burns with NexoBrid® in a non-burn referral center.

Treatment of a Case of Toe Hair-Thread Tourniquet Syndrome With Hirasè Technique.

Hair-thread tourniquet syndrome (HTTS) is an uncommon condition that affects mostly babies, usually a few months old. It happens when a strand of hair or cloth fiber encircles an appendage causing a condition of total or subtotal ischemia (West J Med 1976;125:335-336). This condition has been described several times in the recent literature.

FRAIL scale as a predictor of complications and mortality in older patients undergoing reconstructive surgery for non-melanoma skin cancer.

The aim of the present study was to determine the association between preoperative frailty and the onset of surgical complications in patients diagnosed with massive non-melanoma skin cancer subjected to plastic and reconstructive surgery. A retrospective analysis was performed on a cohort of 587 patients with non-melanoma skin cancer, selected on the basis of specific inclusion criteria, who were subjected to plastic and reconstructive surgery between 2005 and 2014. Frailty was scored using the FRAIL index, whereas postoperative complications were classified according to Clavien-Dindo criteria.
