Unresolved chronic inflammation, a hallmark of cancer, promotes tumor growth and metastasis in various cancer types. In contrast to blocking inflammation, stimulation of resolution of inflammation is an entirely novel approach to "resolve" inflammation. Resolution of inflammation mechanisms in cancer includes clearance of tumor debris, counter-regulation of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids and cytokines, and suppression of leukocyte infiltration.

Thin Film Formation Based on a Nanoporous Metal-Organic Framework by Layer-By-Layer Deposition.

Understanding the structure of thin films is essential for successful applications of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), such as low k-dielectrics in electronic devices. This study focuses on the thin film formation of the 3D nanoporous MOF Cu(bdc)(dabco). The thin films are prepared by a layer-by-layer technique with varying deposition cycles (1 to 50).

Centrosomes and spindle pole bodies (SPBs) are important for mitotic spindle formation and also serve as signaling platforms. In the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, genetic ablation and high-resolution imaging indicate that the α-helical Ppc89 is central to SPB structure and function. Here, we developed and characterized conditional and truncation mutants of ppc89.

Rehabilitation is [still] necessary to optimize function in neuromuscular disorders.

The landscape of care for children and adults with neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) is rapidly changing as more disease-modifying treatments (DMTs) become available. These DMTs provide hope and opportunity for evolving phenotypes, though none (yet) are curative. Rehabilitation has been the standard of care for patients with NMDs and should remain so, even with the advent of novel DMTs.
