Oestrogen plays a crucial physiological role in both women and men. It regulates reproductive functions and maintains various non-reproductive tissues through its receptors, such as oestrogen receptor 1/oestrogen receptor α (ESR1/Erα), oestrogen receptor 2/oestrogen receptor β (ESR2/Erβ), and G protein-coupled oestrogen receptor 1 (GPER). This hormone is essential for the proper functioning of women's ovaries and uterus.

Comparative analysis of gene expression in PBMC from IgA-deficient (IgAd) and normal donors using functional multiplex panels showed overexpression of the Caspase-1 (CASP-1) gene. Cells from all the IgAd donors (n=7) expressed 4-10-fold caspase-1 mRNA over normal controls (n=5).

This study was undertaken to provide data to the FDA about the feasibility of salvaging AS-3 RBCs at the end of their storage period by rejuvenation and freezing, and to evaluate the effect of rejuvenation on indicators of RBC function.
Study Design And Methods: Healthy adults (n = 22) donated 450 mL of whole blood, and RBC components were prepared at two study sites.
Allogeneic stem cell transplantation is curative for certain cancers, but the high doses of chemotherapy/radiotherapy lead to toxicity. Here, we treat patients with refractory cancer with 100 cGy total body irradiation (TBI) followed by infusion of nonmobilized pheresed allogeneic peripheral blood cells. Twenty-five patients, with a median age of 47 years, with refractory cancers were enrolled.
