Acoustic neuroma is one of the most common tumors of the posterior cranial fossa. Its removal is always a challenge for the neurosurgeon and the patient. The history of surgery for acoustic neuromas is inextricably linked with the history of neurosurgery in general.

Histiocytosis is a group of idiopathic diseases accompanied by metabolic disorders and accumulation of metabolic products in histiocytes. Isolated Rosai-Dorfman histiocytosis of central nervous system is observed in less than 5% of cases. The authors report treatment and follow-up of a patient with intracranial Rosai-Dorfman disease.
