Efficacy of ACTH therapy in children with Landau-Kleffner Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder: A retrospective analysis.

Background: Landau-Kleffner Syndrome (LKS) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), both neurodevelopmental disorders, are frequently associated with epileptic seizures and characteristic epileptiform activity. Electrical Status Epilepticus during Sleep (ESES) is commonly observed in LKS, while Interictal Epileptiform Discharges (IEDs) are typical in ASD. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) treatment has demonstrated the potential to reduce the indexes of these related discharges and the number of seizures.

IRS gene polymorphisms in Turkish patients with late-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Background: Factors that cause changes in insulin signaling in the brain are thought to affect the synaptic plasticity and accelerate the process of brain aging and neurodegeneration. Insulin receptor substrate (IRS) molecules are key mediators in insulin signaling. The aim of the current study is to determine whether there is an association between IRS gene polymorphisms, which are critical for insulin signaling, and the late-onset Alzheimer's disease in Turkish patients.

Mortality Associated with Surgical Site Infections Following Cardiac Surgery: Insights from the International ID-IRI Study.

Objectives: Surgical site infections (SSIs) after cardiac surgery increase morbidity and mortality rates. This multicenter study aimed to identify mortality risk factors associated with SSIs after heart surgery.

Methods: Conducted from January to March 2023, this prospective study included 167 patients aged >16 years with post-heart surgery SSIs.

Prognostic factors and outcomes of adjuvant and first-line metastatic treatments in melanoma a Turkish oncology group study.

Management of melanoma has changed significantly with the discovery of targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Our aim in the study is to determine which treatment alternatives, specifically dabrafenib plus trametinib and ICIs, are effective in adjuvant therapy and which treatment is effective as first-line metastatic therapy. This retrospective, multicenter study included 120 patients diagnosed with stage IIIB-IIID melanoma receiving both adjuvant and first-line metastatic treatment between 2007 and 2023.
