Small Bowel Motility Quantified by Cine MRI to Predict Longer-Term Response in Patients with Crohn's Disease Commencing Biological Therapy: The Motility Study.

Background: Small bowel Crohn's disease (SBCD) is increasingly treated with biological therapies. Predicting response or remission (RoR) for individual patients is difficult and complicates treatment strategy. We aimed to determine if motility magnetic resonance imaging (mMRI) is superior to CRP and fecal calprotectin (FC) for the prediction of RoR at 1 year in patients commencing biologics for SBCD.

Primary vs. secondary closure of tracheocutaneous fistulas: A prospective cohort study.

Industrial food processing has been linked to various health outcomes including cancer. To examine associations between the degree of food processing and risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) and its sub-sites, data from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer (EPIC) including 6155 incident CRC cases (n = 450,111 participants), were analyzed. Dietary intakes were assessed using baseline food frequency questionnaires.

3,3'-Diindolylmethane (DIM), a naturally occurring bis-indole found in cruciferous vegetables and produced in small amounts in the normal flora of the human gut, has demonstrated neuroprotective benefits in models of CNS hypoxia and stroke. In the CNS, DIM modulates the activation of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and inhibits its pro-inflammatory effects. Although capable of crossing the blood brain barrier, DIM's bioavailability is limited by its low solubility.

Associations between degree of food processing and all-cause and cause-specific mortality: a multicentre prospective cohort analysis in 9 European countries.

Background: Ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption has been linked with higher risk of mortality. This multi-centre study investigated associations between food intake by degree of processing, using the Nova classification, and all-cause and cause-specific mortality.
