Incidence of Acute Renal Failure in Patients Using Levetiracetam Versus Other Antiseizure Medications: A Voluntary Post-Authorization Safety Study.

Introduction: Acute kidney injury is an expected adverse drug reaction listed in the European Union (EU) Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) for levetiracetam, one of the most widely used modern antiseizure medications (ASMs).

Objective: We conducted a voluntary post-authorization safety study to characterize the rate of acute renal failure (ARF) in patients exposed to levetiracetam versus other ASMs.

Methods: New users of ASMs without prior renal dysfunction were identified and followed for 30 days in the IBM MarketScan database (USA, January 2008-December 2017).

Presaccadic perceptual facilitation effects depend on saccade execution: evidence from the stop-signal paradigm.

Prior to the onset of a saccadic eye movement, perception is facilitated at the saccade target location. This has been attributed to a shift of attention. To test whether presaccadic attention shifts are strictly dependent on saccade execution, we examined whether they are found when observers are required to cancel the eye movement.

Delivery outcome after the use of meclozine in early pregnancy.

Rat tests indicate a teratogenic risk and published epidemiological studies are of restricted size. Delivery outcome was studied in 16,536 women who reported the use of meclozine in early pregnancy and was compared with all 540,660 women who gave birth.

Free magnesium concentration in isolated rabbit hearts subjected to high dose isoproterenol infusion: a 31P NMR study.

The hypothesis of magnesium deficiency in isoproterenol (ISO) induced myocardial injury has been investigated by 31P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. High energy phosphate concentrations, pHi, and intracellular free magnesium concentration ([Mg2+]i) were measured in isolated rabbit hearts perfused at constant flow and subjected to 10(-6)M isoproterenol during 30 min. Recent calibrations were used for [Mg2+]i measurements, and uncertainties on [Mg2+]i estimated values were calculated.
