[Post-lumbar puncture syndrome].

This article presents a clinical case which describes some clinical aspects, risk factors, management and the prophylactic methods to prevent the post-lumbar puncture syndrome.

Individuality of breathing during volitional moderate hyperventilation.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the individuality of airflow shapes during volitional hyperventilation.

Methods: Ventilation was recorded on 18 healthy subjects following two protocols: (1) spontaneous breathing (SP1) followed by a volitional hyperventilation at each subject's spontaneous (HVSP) breathing rate, (2) spontaneous breathing (SP2) followed by hyperventilation at 20/min (HV20). HVSP and HV20 were performed at the same level of hypocapnia: end tidal CO2 (FETCO2) was maintained at 1% below the spontaneous level.

A possible paradigm of functional neurology.

The basic approach of classic neurology cannot fully explain certain clinical neurological phenomena. The explanation in these cases requires an extension of the conceptual borders of neurology. We set out to present a possible paradigm of functional neurology.

[The role of hyperventilation and neuromuscular excitability in the clinical picture and pathogenesis of migraine headaches].

The comparison of two groups of migrainous patients with or without hyperventilation syndrome (HS) provided the conclusions that HS provokes more severe migrainous attacks and psychovegetative symptoms in migrainous cephalalgia (MC). The findings also support the existence of stem structure disfunction in MC patients.
