Poly(butyl cyanoacrylate) (PBCA) nanoparticles have numerous applications, including drug and gene delivery, molecular imaging, and cancer therapy. To uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying their interactions with cell membranes, we utilized a Langmuir monolayer as a model membrane system. This approach enabled us to investigate the processes of penetration and reorganization of PBCA nanoparticles when deposited in a phospholipid monolayer subphase.

The ion-specific properties of such interfaces have been analyzed. The ion-specificity series are different for water|air and water|oil; different for surface tension , surface Δ potential and electrolyte adsorption, and they change with concentration.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel second-generation blue fluorescent polyamidoamine dendrimer peripherally modified with sixteen 4--dimethylaninoethyloxy-1,8-naphthalimide units was synthesized. Its basic photophysical characteristics were investigated in organic solvents of different polarity. It was found that in these solvents, the dendrimer is colorless and emitted blue fluorescence with different intensities depending on their polarity.
