Pregnancy-related issues in rare and low-prevalence diseases: results of ERN transversal working group on pregnancy and family planning survey.

Background: Rare and complex diseases can have a significant impact on family life, and managing the reproductive aspects of patients of childbearing age with rare diseases is often difficult and complex. A European Reference Network (ERN) Transversal Working Group (WG) on Pregnancy and Family Planning was created to join forces to promote and address issues on these topics in rare and low-prevalence diseases.

Objective: To outline the challenges and the good practices related to pregnancy and family planning in rare and complex diseases for healthcare professionals (HCPs).

Sharp wave ripple (SWR) events, present in diverse species, spontaneously occur in the hippocampus during quiescent restfulness and slow-wave sleep. SWRs comprise a negative deflection, the sharp wave (SW) event with an often-superimposed ripple (R) and are the neural correlates of memory consolidation and recall. The Anterodorsolateral lobe (ADL) (zebrafish hippocampal homologue) exhibits SW and SWR events, and since SWs initiate SWRs, their abundance typically shows the same directionality.

Cone beam CT pulmonary angiography in balloon pulmonary angioplasty for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension during the program initiation period.

Aim: Cone beam CT pulmonary angiography (CBCT-PA) has proven to be a valuable technique during balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA) for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) in established centres. This study aimed to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of CBCT-PA-guided BPA for CTEPH during the initial period of a BPA program. CBCT-PA improves procedural accuracy by visualising distal thromboembolic lesions and providing real-time guidance, which is critical during program initiation.
