Introduction: hydatid disease, caused by Echinococcus granulosus, primarily affects the liver and lungs, with splenic involvement being exceedingly rare, occurring in only 0.5 % of cases. This case report highlights a 17-year-old male presenting with a complicated hydatid cyst in the lung, along with an incidental splenic cyst, emphasizing the importance of single-stage surgery in treating multi-organ hydatid disease.

Introduction: Unlike restrictive pulmonary function and apical fibrobullous disease, diffuse interstitial lung disease is scarce in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). We present a systematic review of the association between AS and SS. We also report a new case of SS revealed by interstitial lung disease in AS patients treated with tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors.

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is a very rare diffuse lung disease characterized by the accumulation of amorphous and periodic acid Schiff-positive lipoproteinaceous material in the alveolar spaces due to impaired surfactant clearance by alveolar macrophages. Three main types were identified: Autoimmune, secondary and congenital. Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis has been previously reported to be associated with several systemic auto-immune diseases.
