Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is considered a safe, reliable, and non-invasive modality for kidney stone management. However, there are well-established complications related to ESWL documented in the literature in the form of renal and extrarenal complications. Skeletal complications related to ESWL are rarely recorded; as far as we know, there is only one documented case report of an ESWL-related burst vertebral fracture seen in an osteoporotic patient, diagnosed as granulomatous spondylitis.

New multi-featured adsorbent beads were fabricated through impregnation of sulfonated graphene (SGO) oxide into cellulose acetate (CA) beads for fast adsorption of cationic methylene blue (MB) dye. The formulated SGO@CA composite beads were thoroughly characterized by several tools including FTIR, TGA, SEM, XRD, XPS and zeta potential. The optimal levels of the most significant identified variables affecting the adsorption process were sequential determined by the response surface methodology (RSM) using Plackett-Burman and Box-Behnken designs.

Fischer-Tropsch has become an indispensable choice in the gas-to-liquid conversion reactions to produce a wide range of petrochemicals using recently emerging biomass or other types of feedstock such as coal or natural gas. Herein we report the incorporation of novel Cu nanoparticles with two Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) catalytic systems, Fe/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and Fe-Mn/rGO, to evaluate their FTS performance and olefin productivity in two types of reactors: slurry-bed reactor (SBR) and fixed-bed reactor (FBR). Four catalysts were compared and investigated, namely Fe, FeCu, FeMnCu, and FeMn, which were highly dispersed over reduced graphene oxide nanosheets.

Currently, there is no compendial-level method to assess dissolution of particulate systems administered in the periodontal pocket. This work seeks to develop dissolution methods for extended release poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microspheres applied in the periodontal pocket. Arestin®, PLGA microspheres containing minocycline hydrochloride (MIN), is indicated for reduction of pocket depth in adult periodontitis.

Background The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytolopathology (TBSRTC) is the standardized category-based reporting system for thyroid nodule (TN) aspirations; however, atypia of undetermined significance/follicular lesion of undetermined significance (Bethesda category III, AUS/FLUS) is the most controversial category. The aim of this study was to identify the degree of malignancy risk and the related risk factors in the surgical pathology of the Bethesda Category III thyroid nodules.  Methods A total of 4074 patients (15-90 years, 81.
