The lateral and angular Goos-Hänchen shifts undergone upon reflection on a dielectric plate by a spatially phase-modulated Gaussian beam are derived. It is shown that the amplitude and direction of both lateral and angular shifts are very sensitive to the degree of spatial phase modulation of the incident beam, so that such modulation thus provides a means to control those shifts. It is also shown that the modulation incurs some beam reshaping upon reflection.

Microstructural analysis at the pre-fracture stage of pure titanium and Ti-45Nb alloy in the coarse grain (CG) and ultrafine-grained (UFG) states was also conducted. It was shown that substructural and dispersion hardening leads to a change in the regularities of dissipation and accumulation energies during deformation of the samples of the pure titanium and Ti-45Nb alloy in the UFG state.

POU2F1/Oct-1 is a transcription regulator in higher eukaryotes which is involved in the regulation of development, differentiation, stress response, and other processes. We have demonstrated that the Tigger2 transposon insertion into the POU2F1 gene which occurred in the primate lineage led to the formation of an additional exon (designated the Z-exon).

A retrotransposon of the Mag family was found in the Drosophila simulans genome for the first time. We also identified novel transposable elements representing the Mag family in seven Drosophila species. The high similarity between the 3' and 5' long terminal repeats in the found copies of transposable elements indicates that their retrotransposition has occurred relatively recently.
