The increase in age-related comorbidities, such as cardiometabolic diseases, has become a global health priority. There is a growing need to find new parameters capable of improving the detection of cardiometabolic risk factors, and circulating endocannabinoids (eCBs) are a promising tool in this context. Here, we aimed to investigate the relationship between plasma levels of eCBs and their analogues with body composition and cardiometabolic risk factors in middle-aged adults.

Background: Synthetic cathinones (SCs) are a large category of new psychoactive substances (NPS), which pose a serious threat to public health due to limited information about their toxicology and pharmacology. Many SCs are closely related in their chemical structures, with some substances being positional isomers. In this study, we propose a new workflow for the identification of SC isomers using liquid chromatography-high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) combined with electron activated dissociation (EAD) and chemometrics.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers found that while NOS2 mRNA is strongly expressed in psoriatic skin, its protein translation is hindered by IL-17-induced miR-31, leading to lower nitric oxide (NO) levels.
  • * In experiments with a psoriasis mouse model, altering NO levels through gene knockout or a NO-releasing treatment showed significant effects on psoriatic inflammation, suggesting that NO donor therapy could be a promising new treatment for psoriasis.
