In young children, iron deficiency (ID)-the most common cause of anemia-may adversely affect long-term neurodevelopment and behavior. We prospectively evaluated the prevalence of ID and iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in 256 healthy 18- to 36-month-old children in Northern Israel. A major peak of blood glucose level was observed 8 hours after treatment, and a second minor peak was measured 14-17 hours after treatment. These findings indicate that localized microwave hyperthermia affects the host systemically.

A slight stimulation of the immune response was observed when levan was given shortly before or 1 day after the antigen.
