[The surgical treatment of patients with mechanical jaundice].

Bile-diverting operations in 386 patients with obstructive jaundice are analysed. It was caused by benign diseases in 202 patients (group 1) and by malignant tumors of the biliary tract and pancreas in 184 patients (group 2). Laparoscopic cholecystostomy was carried out in the first stage of treatment in each third patient.

[Surgical treatment of duodenal ulcer complicated by mechanical jaundice].

Operations were performed on 41 patients with duodenal ulcer which was the cause of obstruction of the bile ducts. Many patients also suffered from other chronic and acute complications of peptic disease of a long duration. Preliminary laparoscopic decompression of the gallbladder was conducted whenever possible.

[Complications of acute destructive pancreatitis and their treatment].

On the basis of an analysis of the treatment of 51 patients with complications of acute destructive pancreatitis (parapancreatic infiltrations with or without suppurations, intestinal fistulas, arrosive bleedings) the authors find it necessary to fulfil an adequate drainage of the pathological focus, permanent continuous washing with antiseptic solutions and active aspiration of the content.
