Quantification of modal mineralogy in molybdenite-bearing drill-core samples by laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy.

Quantification of modal mineralogy in drill-core samples is crucial for understanding the geology and metal deportment in a mining operation. This study assesses conventional procedures to quantify modal mineralogy, that includes an initial drill-core logging, followed by petrographic descriptions and SEM-based automated mineralogy analyses performed in selected regions of interest, against a novel approach using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). Our proposed methodology aims to quantify the modal mineralogy directly in a drill-core sample, avoiding previous stages of selection and preparation of samples.

Variation in Reported Learning Outcomes and Measurement Instruments in Hip Arthroscopy Simulation Training: A Systematic Review.

Purpose: To systematically review the current literature on the effectiveness of hip arthroscopy simulation training and to determine the consistency of reporting and validation of simulation used in hip arthroscopy.

Methods: Three databases (PubMed, EMBase, and CINAHL) were screened using PRISMA guidelines in January 2022 for published literature on virtual simulation in hip arthroscopy. Studies reporting on the use of hip arthroscopy simulation training in orthopedic surgical trainees were included and assessed for quality and risk of bias using MINORS criteria.

Benchmarking federated strategies in Peer-to-Peer Federated learning for biomedical data.

The increasing requirements for data protection and privacy have attracted a huge research interest on distributed artificial intelligence and specifically on federated learning, an emerging machine learning approach that allows the construction of a model between several participants who hold their own private data. In the initial proposal of federated learning the architecture was centralised and the aggregation was done with federated averaging, meaning that a central server will orchestrate the federation using the most straightforward averaging strategy. This research is focused on testing different federated strategies in a peer-to-peer environment.

Obstetric tetanus in an immunized patient.

Obstetric tetanus is defined as a infection that occurs during pregnancy or within six weeks of delivery. In Peru, there are no reports of obstetric tetanus cases. Here we report a sixth case of obstetric tetanus in a puerperal woman who underwent curettage for postpartum hemorrhage, despite immunization against tetanus.

Association between serum calcium levels and the presentation of postpartum endometritis in housed dairy cows.

The present work aims to identify the minimum threshold of serum calcium (SC) values in cows during the first week postpartum and evaluate their relationship with the presentation of endometritis in housed dairy cows. In this prospective longitudinal observational study, 467 cows from 3 farms in Lima-Peru were studied. Blood samples were collected from cows during the first week postpartum.
