Thoracic aortic aneurysm presenting only as vocal cord paralysis.

We present a case of unilateral vocal cord paralysis in a 76-year-old Saudi male presenting with hoarseness of voice caused by thoracic aortic aneurysm. Here, we are illustrating a rare entity of thoracic aortic aneurysm presenting only with hoarseness of voice to draw attention to unusual clinical manifestations of this serious underlying aortic pathology.

Middle ear cholesteatoma: characteristic CT findings in 64 patients.

Background: High resolution computerized tomography (HRCT) is valuable for detection of early erosive changes suggestive of cholesteatoma. The aim of our study was to determine characteristic CT findings in patients with middle ear cholesteatoma.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of CT scans and surgical and histopathological reports in 64 patients with middle ear cholesteatoma (35 male, 29 female; age range, 7-80 years, median age, 22 years).

Allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis in patients with asthma: period prevalence at a university hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis (ABPM) is a known complication of asthma and can result in progressive lung damage, respiratory failure and death. Asthma is a common disease in Saudi Arabia and until now the prevalence of ABPM has not been investigated. The aim of this study was to estimate the period prevalence of ABPM due to Aspergillus and Candida in patients with asthma.

Predictors of radiological sequelae of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Purpose: In patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, clinical factors that are associated with poor radiological outcome have not been adequately addressed in the medical literature. The aim of this study was to explore some of these factors in patients admitted to a large chest hospital in Saudi Arabia with pulmonary tuberculosis.

Material And Methods: Chest radiographs of 1,080 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis were reviewed.
