Successful Percutaneous Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement for Severe Aortic Regurgitation in a High-risk Patient with Cardiorenal Syndrome.

The absence of a Food and Drug Administration-approved percutaneous valve technology for the treatment of severe aortic regurgitation (AR) presents a challenge for high-risk patients. In this report, we describe the successful treatment of an 84-year-old male patient suffering from severe symptomatic AR and concomitant cardiorenal syndrome with renal failure using a 34 mm Evolut R (Medtronic) self-expanding transcatheter aortic valve replacement. This intervention resulted in the resolution of AR, cardiorenal syndrome, and congestive heart failure symptoms.

The possible role of epigenetics in the etiology of hypospadias.

Introduction: Hypospadias is a common malformation of the genitourinary system and is thought with a complex interplay between genetics and environmental factors likely contributing to its pathogenesis. This study aimed to investigate the receptor gene expressions of sex hormones, FGFR2, FGF8 and BMP7 and DNA methylations in these genes as an epigenetic mark, which may play a role in the etiology of hypospadias.

Material And Methods: The samples from the foreskin of 20 patients with hypospadias and 20 healthy children who underwent circumcision operations were collected.

Histopathological findings of anterior lens capsule in pediatric cataract.

Purpose: To investigate the histopathological findings of the anterior lens capsule in pediatric patients who had surgery for cataracts.

Methods: This study is a prospective interventional study. Anterior capsule tissue samples that were obtained by the anterior capsulotomy method during phacoemulsification surgery were fixed and examined under a transmission electron microscope.

Use of SAFARI 2™ as workhorse wire for left-sided structural heart interventions.

Background: With the advances in percutaneous treatment technologies, the left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) and the transcatheter mitral valve repair using MitraClip (TMVR) are increasingly being performed today. The SAFARI 2™ guidewire is primarily used during transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), our group has also been using it during MitraClip and LAAO procedures. Our clinical study aimed to share our data on the safety and effectiveness for the use of the SAFARI 2™ guidewire during MitraClip or LAAO procedures.
