Introduction: Oral anticoagulants (OAC) reduce the risk of stroke among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). However, adherence remains suboptimal. We focused on primary nonadherence to OAC and its associations with patient characteristics-specifically social determinants of health collected in electronic health records (EHR).

Characterizing Emergency Department Disposition Conversations for Persons Living With Dementia: Protocol for an Ethnographic Study.

Background: Almost 40% of persons living with dementia make an emergency department (ED) visit each year. One of the most impactful and costly elements of their ED care is the decision to discharge or admit them to the hospital-the "disposition" decision. When more than one reasonable option exists regarding a health care decision, such as the decision to admit or not, it often requires a complex conversation between patients, care partners, and ED providers, ideally involving shared decision-making.

Urban runoff effluents transport multiple pollutants collected from urban surfaces. which ultimately reach freshwater ecosystems. We here collect the existing scientific evidence on the urban runoff impacts on aquatic organisms and ecosystem functions, assessed the potential toxicity of the most common pollutants present in urban runoff, and characterized the ecotoxicological risk for freshwaters.
