View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe incretory pancreatic function has been studied in 35 patients with a moderately severe course of acute dysentery. The blood plasma content of insulin, glucagon and gastrin was determined by means of radioimmunoassay with standard kits during the acute course of the disease and prior to discharge of patients. The endocrine pancreatic function was found to be deranged with an increased insulin content during convalescence; the glucagon content was decreased during the period of the disease and the gastrin content was decreased in the acute period.
