External quality assessment (EQA) is used to evaluate laboratory performance in tests of hemostasis; however, some esoteric tests are performed by too few centers in any one EQA program to allow valid statistical assessment. To explore the feasibility of pooling data from several EQA providers, an exercise was carried out by the External Quality Assurance in Thrombosis and Haemostasis group, using the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) plasma standard for thrombophilia screening assays. Six EQA providers took part in this exercise, distributing the SSC plasma standard as a "blinded" sample to participants for thrombophilia tests between November 2020 and December 2021.

An intricate reciprocal relationship exists between adherent synthetic cells and their extracellular matrix (ECM). These cells deposit, organize, and degrade the ECM, which in turn influences cell phenotype via responses that include sensitivity to changes in the mechanical state that arises from changes in external loading. Objective: In this investigation, we addressed the contribution of the core circadian clock factor, BMAL1, in skeletal muscle to both acute transcriptional responses to exercise and transcriptional remodeling in response to exercise training. Additionally, we adopted a systems biology approach to investigate how loss of skeletal muscle BMAL1 altered peripheral tissue homeostasis as well as exercise training adaptations in iWAT, liver, heart, and lung of male mice.

Methods: Combining inducible skeletal muscle specific BMAL1 knockout mice, physiological testing and standardized exercise protocols, we performed a multi-omic analysis (transcriptomics, chromatin accessibility and metabolomics) to explore loss of muscle BMAL1 on muscle and peripheral tissue responses to exercise.

Chronic hypoxia plays a central role in diverse pulmonary pathologies, but its effects on longitudinal changes in the biomechanical behavior of proximal pulmonary arteries remain poorly understood. Similarly, effects of normoxic recovery have not been well studied. Here, we report hypoxia-induced changes in composition, vasoactivity, and passive biaxial mechanics in the main branch pulmonary artery of male C57BL/6J mice exposed to 10% FiO2 for 1, 2, or 3 weeks.
