Long-pulsed ruby laser-assisted hair removal in male-to-female transsexuals.

Background: Unwanted male-pattern pilosity is a heavy psychological burden and can cause distress for male-to-female transsexuals. Orchidectomy and oestrogen supplementation combined with antiandrogens fail to make hair disappear.

Aims: To study the effect of long-pulsed ruby laser treatment.

Diffuse dermal angiomatosis: A previously undescribed pattern of immunoglobulin and complement deposits in two cases.

Two cases of diffuse dermal angiomatosis are reported in middle-aged women. This rare disease of unknown origin is characterized by increased dermal angiomatosis and ulceration. The clinical and histologic presentations of the presently reported lesions were typical for this disorder.

[Arsenical keratoses and carcinomas].

We report the case of a 70-year old man who presented the classical cutaneous signs of chronic arsenicism : palmo-plantar keratoses and lesions of Bowen's disease. Within a few months, the patient developed multiple large superficial basal cell carcinomas on the trunk and several invasive squamous cell carcinomas. A pulmonary cancer with cerebral metastases was also identified.

[Clinical case of the month. Acute rheumatic arthritis disclosed by purpura].

We report the case of an adult who presented cutaneous manifestations of rheumatic fever. The lesions are rarely diagnosed. However, they represent a clue inciting a specific diagnostic search for identifying the disease.
