A rare mosaic trisomy 22 syndrome in a 7-year-old boy: rare case report.

Trisomy 22 is a rare autosomal constitutional chromosomal disorder with high survival incompatibility being the third most frequent trisomy in spontaneous abortions and accounting for 10%-15% of all cases. Mosaic trisomy 22 is a less severe variant of the disorder associated with mild phenotype and longer lifespan compared to cases with complete trisomy 22. To date, there have only been 25 reported cases of trisomy 22 worldwide.

Clinical and genetic characteristics of disorders of sex development in Sudanese patients.

Given the scarce data on DSD in Sudan, we aimed to characterize DSD's clinical and genetic profile in Sudanese patients. We studied 60 patients with DSD using clinical data, cytogenetics, and PCR for the SRY gene. The results showed that 65% grew up as females and 35% as males.

Viral meningitis in Sudanese children: Differentiation, etiology and review of literature.

Diagnosis of viral meningitis (VM) is uncommon practice in Sudan and there is no local viral etiological map. We therefore intended to differentiate VM using standardized clinical codes and determine the involvement of herpes simplex virus types-1 and 2 (HSV-1/2), varicella zoster virus, non-polio human enteroviruses (HEVs), and human parechoviruses in meningeal infections in children in Sudan. This is a cross-sectional hospital-based study.

Human herpes virus type-6 is associated with central nervous system infections in children in Sudan.

Background: Human herpes virus type-6 (HHV-6) is increasingly recognised as a febrile agent in children. However, less is known in sub-Saharan African countries, including Sudan.

Objective: We investigated the involvement of HHV-6 in paediatric central nervous system (CNS) infections in Khartoum, Sudan.

Clinical Characteristics of Urinary Bladder Cancer in the Sudan; Evidence of Pathoetiology Changes.

Introduction: Bladder cancer (BC) is highly heterogeneous with regard to clinical course, etiology, histology, and geographic distribution. Recent clinical observations suggest changes in the pattern of BC in the Sudan perhaps due to lifestyle change following the massive displacement from rural to urban areas. The present study aimed to characterize the clinical profile of the BC among Sudanese patients and compare it with what has been previous reported.
