Background And Aims: The structure-function relationships of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) subpopulations are not well understood. Our aim was to examine the interrelationships between HDL particle proteome and HDL functionality in subjects with and without coronary heart disease (CHD).

Methods: We isolated 5 different HDL subpopulations based on charge, size, and apolipoprotein A1 (APOA1) content from the plasma of 33 overweight/obese CHD patients and 33 age-and body mass index (BMI)-matched CHD-free subjects.

The silica-based cell walls of diatoms are prime examples of genetically controlled, species-specific mineral architectures. The physical principles underlying morphogenesis of their hierarchically structured silica patterns are not understood, yet such insight could indicate novel routes toward synthesizing functional inorganic materials. Recent advances in imaging nascent diatom silica allow rationalizing possible mechanisms of their pattern formation.

Large-scale high-dimensional multiomics studies are essential to unravel molecular complexity in health and disease. We developed an integrated system for tissue sampling (CryoGrid), analytes preparation (PIXUL), and downstream multiomic analysis in a 96-well plate format (Matrix), MultiomicsTracks96, which we used to interrogate matched frozen and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) mouse organs. Using this system, we generated 8-dimensional omics data sets encompassing 4 molecular layers of intracellular organization: epigenome (H3K27Ac, H3K4m3, RNA polymerase II, and 5mC levels), transcriptome (messenger RNA levels), epitranscriptome (m6A levels), and proteome (protein levels) in brain, heart, kidney, and liver.

We present simultaneous 1D imaging and broadband spectroscopy of a laser-produced plasma (LPP) source of extreme ultraviolet light, using a tapered zone plate that is matched to the dispersion of a transmission grating. We describe the design and fabrication of the zone plates in the 5-80 nm wavelength regime with designed spatial resolution of ∼10 µm and spectral resolution of ∼0.8 nm.

Background: The multiome is an integrated assembly of distinct classes of molecules and molecular properties, or "omes," measured in the same biospecimen. Freezing and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedding (FFPE) are two common ways to store tissues, and these practices have generated vast biospecimen repositories. However, these biospecimens have been underutilized for multi-omic analysis due to the low throughput of current analytical technologies that impede large-scale studies.
