One of the many facets of structured light are Ferris wheel/petal beams that can be generated by the addition/superposition of two beams with opposite vorticity/orbital angular momentum (OAM). We demonstrate a simple scheme employing a -shifted Sagnac interferometer (SI) containing a spiral phase plate (SPP) that divides and structures an incoming beam into two azimuthally complementary petal beams representing orthogonal eigenstates. The half-wave plate in the SI can interswitch/route these intensity patterns between the two outputs of the interferometer.

The debate over the cardiovascular (CV) implications of testosterone therapy (TT) have resulted in diverging safety recommendations and clinical guidelines worldwide. This narrative review synthesizes and critically evaluates long-term studies examining the effects of TT within the context of aging, obesity, and endogenous sex hormones on CV disease (CVD) risk to support informed clinical decision-making. Observational studies have variably linked low endogenous testosterone with increased CVD risk, while randomized controlled trials (RCTs) demonstrate that TT yields cardiometabolic benefits without increasing short-term CV risk.

Article Synopsis
  • Colchicine is an anti-inflammatory drug traditionally used for autoimmune diseases but is now recognized for its role in managing cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and coronary artery disease (CAD), especially after FDA approval in 2023.
  • The medication works by targeting various anti-inflammatory pathways, leading to reduced cardiovascular events and modifications in atherosclerotic plaque.
  • This review paper aims to clarify colchicine's new role as a plaque modifier, consolidating existing research and clinical findings to assist healthcare professionals in effectively utilizing it alongside other CVD treatment strategies.
