Aim: To evaluate the budgetary impact of using budesonide + formoterol (Symbicort Turbuhaler) as maintenance therapy in real clinical practice compared with standard therapy for asthma of varying severity: for mild asthma with on-demand salbutamol; for moderate and severe asthma with the drug salmeterol + fluticasone and salbutamol on demand.

Materials And Methods: A static mathematical model was built to assess the impact on the budget when introducing the drug budesonide + formoterol (Symbicort Turbuhaler) in the treatment of asthma into clinical practice from the point of view of the state. Demographic data was taken from the official data of the Federal State Statistics Service.

The aim of this study is to compare effective dose (E) estimations based on different methods for patients with recurrent computed tomography (CT) examinations. Seventeen methods were used to determine the E of each phase as well as the total E of the CT examination. These included three groups of estimations: based on the use of published E, calculated from typical or patient-specific values of volume computed tomography dose index (CTDI) and dose-length product (DLP) multiplied by conversion coefficients, and based on patient-specific calculations with use of software.

Most species of the genus Bifidobacterium contain the gene cluster PFNA, which is presumably involved in the species-specific communication between bacteria and their hosts. The gene cluster PFNA consists of five genes including fn3, which codes for a protein containing two fibronectin type III domains. Each fibronectin domain contains sites similar to cytokine-binding sites of human receptors.
