Functional analysis of lung tumor suppressor activity at 3p21.3.

The early and frequent occurrence of deletions at 3p21.3 in lung cancer has led to the consideration of this chromosomal region as a lung cancer (LUCA) critical region with tumor suppressor activity. We covered this 19 genes-containing region with overlapping P1 artificial chromosomes (PACs), in which genes are likely accompanied by their own promoters or other regulatory sequences.

BCL6 alternative breakpoint region break and homozygous deletion of 17q24 in the nodular lymphocyte predominance type of Hodgkin's lymphoma-derived cell line DEV.

DEV is the only cell line derived from nodular lymphocyte predominance type of Hodgkin's lymphoma (NLPHL); however, a comprehensive report about the genetic and immunophenotypic profile of this unique cell line is lacking. We analyzed DEV with respect to immunophenotype and genetic aberrations. The immunostaining revealed positivity for CD45, CD20, CD22, CD79a, IgA2, CD80, CD86, CD74, and BCL6.

Two unbalanced segregation products due to a maternal t(7;16)inv(16).

We report a prenatal case of a maternally inherited abnormal chromosome 16, originally interpreted as a pericentric inversion only, but after family studies re-interpreted as a pericentric inversion (16) accompanied by an unbalanced (7;16) translocation. Because of the inversion 16 and an elder son with developmental delay and craniofacial dysmorphic features, in the past karyotyped as 46,XY, the chromosomes 16 of the mother and son were carefully re-examined. Using a whole chromosome 16 paint and sub-telomere probes of 16p and 16q, the karyotype of the mother was shown to be 46,XX,inv(16)(p11.
