Introduction: Parathyroid cancer (PTC) is an extremely rare malignancy with an incidence of 5.7 per 10 million people. The exact preoperative or intraoperative diagnosis is difficult, but of paramount importance, because resection with negative margins is the only effective treatment.

Identification of nodal disease with positive pre-operative ultrasound guided axillary fine needle aspiration cytology (AUS/FNAC) may represent a higher axillary disease burden mandating an axillary clearance and thus an upfront SLNB may be avoided. The aims of this study were to quantify nodal burden in patients with positive pre-operative AUS/FNAC and identify patients who may have been able to avoid an axillary clearance (ALND) based on ACOSOG Z011 criteria.

The study task was to evaluate whether the assessment of Sm(avg) can be used as an alternative to the Simpson's method in assessment of the EF. The expected benefit was that Sm could be used to predict EF, when EF is difficult to assess due to poor image quality (IQ).

The different types mastectomy which conserve the skin and the halo and nipple are more and more popular. From oncology's point of view this kind of operations show similar results compared with the classical modified radical mastectomy, but they have significantly advantage to imrove the final aesthetic result and to reduce the psychological stress of surgery intervention for the patient.

Patients And Methods: A retrospective study of 378 patients with invasive BC (T1-3N0-3M0), who were operated between 2000 and 2003 at our Institution, was carried out. Almost 80% had undergone modified radical mastectomy (MRM).
