Three-finger proteins (TFPs), or Ly6/uPAR proteins, are characterized by the beta-structural LU domain containing three protruding "fingers" and stabilized by four conserved disulfide bonds. TFPs were initially characterized as snake alpha-neurotoxins, but later many studies showed their regulatory roles in different organisms. Despite a known expression of TFPs in vertebrates, they are poorly studied in other taxa.

Some of them are expressed in the CNS in the neurons of different brain regions and target neuronal membrane receptors. Thus, Lynx1 potentiates nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the brain, while others like Lypd6 and Lypd6b suppress it.

Here, pseudospin emerges as a two-component degree of freedom, that labels degenerate energy minima in momentum space populated by electrons. The built-in mechanical strain in the sample studied imposes a finite "Zeeman" splitting between the pseudospin "up" and "down" states.

The amount of research on the use of mRNAs as preventive and therapeutic modalities has undergone explosive growth in the last few years. Nonetheless, the issue of the stability of mRNA molecules and their translation efficiency remains incompletely resolved.

Tumor cells adapt to low environmental pH by activating acid-sensing trimeric ion channels of the DEG/ENaC family. The α-ENaC/ASIC1a/γ-ENaC heterotrimeric channel is a tumor-specific acid-sensing channel, and its targeting can be considered a new strategy for cancer therapy.
