Predictive Models of Psychological Distress, Quality of Life, and Adherence to Medication in Breast Cancer Patients: A Scoping Review.

Purpose: An interplay of clinical and psychosocial variables affects breast cancer patients' experiences and clinical trajectories. Several studies investigated the role of socio-demographic, clinical, and psychosocial factors in predicting relevant outcomes in breast cancer care, thus developing predictive models. Our aim is to summarize predictive models for specific psychological and behavioral outcomes: psychological distress, quality of life, and medication adherence.

Knowledge and attitudes toward gene therapy of a cohort of Italian patients with hemophilia.

Background: Gene therapy (GT) has recently become a new therapeutic option for hemophilia A and B. However, patient levels of knowledge and attitudes toward it are poorly understood. A general lack of knowledge and education has been highlighted in previous studies.

Effectiveness of Serious Games in Improving Genetic Literacy and Genetic Risk Awareness in the General Public: A Pilot Study.

Genomics is an integral part of medical science; however, European citizens' literacy on basic genetic concepts is still poor. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Serious Games (SGs) in increasing genetic literacy in laypeople and to assess the impact of SGs on participants' perceived self-efficacy (SE) in managing genetic risk implications. Two minigames and an adventure game were created, together with leaflets reporting the same information as the SGs.

Psychological and cognitive factors involved in decision-making process of haemophilia carriers in reproductive choices.

Introduction: Haemophilia carriers (HCs) face a multitude of psychological challenges, mainly linked to the possibility of having an affected child. Important reproductive decisions such as opting for pre-implantation genetic testing, or choosing prenatal diagnosis and then whether to continue or interrupt pregnancy in case of affected male fetus, have to be taken into consideration. Notwithstanding, the role of psychological characteristics on such decision-making process needs further investigation.
