Antimicrobial resistance is a global health concern. As such, there have been increased efforts to monitor and standardize antimicrobial prescribing practices in humans and domestic animals. The presence of antibiotics in surface waters is a potential driver of antibiotic resistance and thus of concern to human and environmental health.
