Background: Influenza-like illness (ILI) incidence estimates in individuals treated with immunosuppressants and/or biologics and/or corticosteroid for an autoimmune or chronic inflammatory disease are scarce. We compared the ILI incidence among immunocompromised population and the general population.

Method: We conducted a prospective cohort study during the 2017-2018 seasonal influenza epidemic, on the GrippeNet.

Purpose: It was shown that corticosteroids alter the inflammatory and immune responses. Many publications report on serious infections occurring in patients receiving corticosteroids or presenting with Cushing's syndrome. This information is synthesized in this article.

HIV preventive vaccine research at the ANRS: the lipopeptide vaccine approach.

The HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)/AIDS epidemic is of unprecedented gravity and is spreading rapidly, notably in the most disadvantaged regions of the world. The search for a preventive vaccine is thus an absolute priority. For over 10 years the ANRS (Agence Nationale de Recherches sur le SIDA) has been committed to an original programme combining basic science and clinical research.

The protection against infection by HIV probably requires the induction of both neutralizing Abs and CTL responses. Vaccination by attenuated HIV is hardly acceptable and the use of viral genes inserted in recombinant living vectors needs further development, especially with respect to safety. The peptidic vaccination is a promising approach but free peptides are usually poorly immunogenic.
