Case update on cranial osteopetrosis: which is the role of the neurosurgeon?

Purpose: Osteopetrosis (OP) is a rare skeletal disease, which can affect the skull base and calvaria. A multidisciplinary approach is mandatory and patient may need neurosurgical care. Few observations have been published, and optimal management of OP is not established yet.

[Optic disc drusen in children: Advantages of various imaging modalities].

In children, optic disc drusen pose a diagnostic problem with papilledema when they are buried. The goal of our study is to retrospectively compare the results of examinations performed in 34 children with optic disc drusen. In children who underwent ultrasonography and autofluorescence imaging, the results were conclusive in both examinations in 44.

Long-term follow-up of two patients with oligocone trichromacy.

Introduction: Oligocone trichromacy (OT) is an uncommon cone dysfunction disorder, the mechanism of which remains poorly understood. OT has been thought to be non-progressive, but its long-term visual outcome has been seldom reported in the literature. Our aim was to present two OT patients followed at our institution over 18 years.

[Principle of the useful field of view and normative data].

Purpose: The useful field of view is a test which takes into account the influence of patient attention during the evaluation of the visual field. This study aims to generate normative data for an adaptation of the useful field of view (UFOV) test. These normative data are essential to judge, in a clinical setting, whether patients' performance is normal or not across demographically similar peers, in order to advise whether or not to resume driving after a brain injury (traumatic brain injury, stroke or cerebral tumour).

Optic Nerve Sheath Meningocele: A Case Report.

Isolated optic nerve sheath meningocele is a rare affection defined as the cystic enlargement of the optic nerve sheath filled with cerebrospinal fluid. We report the case of a 39-year-old woman presenting with bilateral meningocele uncovered during a routine examination for headache complaints. A 5-year follow-up validated the lesion's clinical and imaging stability.
