Introduction: Our previous studies showed elevated levels of Semaphorin3a (Sema3A) in the urine of patients with urothelial cancer compared to healthy patients. The aim of this study was to analyze the extent of Sema3A expression in normal and malignant urothelial tissue using immune-staining microscopic and morphometric analysis.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-seven paraffin-embedded bladder samples were retrieved from our pathology archive and analyzed: 14 samples of normal urothelium, 21 samples containing low-grade urothelial carcinoma, 13 samples of patients with high-grade urothelial carcinoma, 7 samples containing muscle invasive urothelial carcinoma, and 2 samples with pure urothelial carcinoma in situ.

Aim: Some resected adrenal-confined adrenocortical carcinomas metastasize and others not. The present study was designed to evaluate the expression of metallothionein protein (MT) and minichromosome maintenance protein-2 (MCM2) in adrenocortical carcinomas and adrenocortical adenomas, and to test the correlation between this and adrenocortical carcinoma aggressiveness.

Materials And Methods: The study comprised 14 patients operated on for adrenocortical carcinoma, 15 operated on for adrenocortical adenoma and 2 with normal adrenals.

Purpose: One of the major regulators of gastrointestinal tract development is the hedgehog signaling pathway. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of sonic hedgehog (SHh) signaling 24 and 48 h following intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (IR) in a rat.

Materials And Methods: Male rats were divided into four experimental groups: (1) Sham-24 h rats underwent laparotomy and were sacrificed after 24 h, (2) Sham-48h rats underwent laparotomy and were sacrificed after 48 h, (3) IR-24h rats underwent occlusion of both superior mesenteric artery and portal vein for 20 min followed by 24 h of reperfusion, and (4) IR-48 h rats underwent ischemia for 20 min followed by 48 h of reperfusion.

Background: Exposure to ionizing radiation results in cytotoxic and genotoxic effects caused mainly by the oxidative damage. In the present study, we investigated the radioprotective effect of novel antioxidant cocktail on germ cell apoptosis and spermatogenesis in rats subjected to whole body radiation (WBIR).

Methods: Adult male rats weighing 250-270 g were divided into four groups, eight rats each.

Objective: To assess the impact of external septoplasty surgery on nasal growth in children.

Design: Twelve anthropometric measurements (9 linear and 3 angular) were obtained in patients who previously underwent external septoplasty surgery for severe nasal obstruction caused by septal deviation anterior to the nasal spine. Surgery consisted of excision, refashioning, and reinsertion of the quadrilateral cartilage.
