Ventricular free wall rupture is a rare post myocardial complication with a high associated mortality. In this article we discuss the case of an elderly patient who presented to our emergency department in shock after an episode of syncope. Using Point Of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), identification of cardiac tamponade and pericardial thrombus was possible, signs indicating a diagnosis of free wall rupture.

The aim of the present work was to develop a soft sensor with the capacity to perform reliable substrate predictions and control in microbial cultures of the fed-batch type, using mainly microbial growth data. This objective was achieved using dielectric spectroscopy technology for online monitoring of microbial growth and hybrid neural networks for online prediction of substrate concentration.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground And Aim Of The Study: Tricuspid valve replacement (TVR) is considered a high-risk operation. The study aim was to analyze the authors' eight-year experience with TVR and to characterize the specific risk factors for this operation.
Methods: Between January 2005 and August 2012, a total of 67 patients (46 females, 21 males; mean age 58 +/- 14 years; range: 25-86 years) underwent TVR at the authors' center.
The host-guest complexes of resorcin[4]arenes with small molecules in organic solutions are examined using modern NMR spectroscopic methods. The complexation of glutaric acid and beta-methyl d-glucopyranoside in chloroform were investigated through 2D COSY, 2D NOESY, 1D NOE, and diffusion-ordered NMR spectroscopy (DOSY) techniques. These methods indicate that the complex is a self-assembled capsule composed of six resorcinarenes that surround six guest molecules of glutaric acid or three molecules of beta-methyl d-glucopyranoside inside.

This paper proposes using a new recurrent neural network model (RNNM) to predict and control fed batch fermentations of Bacillus thuringiensis. The control variables are the limiting substrate and the feeding conditions. The multi-input multi-output RNNM proposed has twelve inputs, seven outputs, nineteen neurons in the hidden layer, and global and local feedbacks.
