Mapping the Research Landscape of Intra-Articular Knee Injections: A Bibliometric Analysis Using the Scopus Database.

Intraarticular injection of osteoarthritis knee is one of the treatment options for pain management and delays the need for knee surgery. Various materials have been promoted for the procedure, ranging from corticosteroid to viscosupplement to the more recent autologous biological materials. Despite the increasing attention and interest in regard to the material selection, efficacy, safety, and effect of this intervention, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis using the Scopus database has yet to be conducted.

A rare penetrating injury through the axilla caused by stilt pole in a Bajau Laut boy.

An 8-year-old child of Bajau Laut descent (a stateless tribe in Eastern Borneo and the Sulu archipelago) presented following a fall, with penetrating injury through the axilla caused by a stilt pole, exiting at the supero-anterior aspect of the left shoulder. Due to the lack of comprehension of modern medical treatment and poor language skills, the parents refused to consent for detailed radioimaging studies, nor surgical removal and exploration in the operating theatre. The removal of retained stilt pole was done in casualty area in Hospital Tawau, followed by local exploration under sedation and local analgesia.

Frequency of class B carbapenemases (MbetaL) in enterobacteriacae.

Objective: To determine the frequency of Metallo- -lactamase producing Enteriobacteriaceae species.

Method: The descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out from January to December 2011 in the Department of Microbiology, Basic Medical Sciences Institute, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi. A total of 500 specimens were initially collected.

Rupture of the quadriceps tendon: an association with a patellar spur.

We reviewed the records of 107 consecutive patients who had undergone surgery for disruption of the knee extensor mechanism to test whether an association existed between rupture of the quadriceps tendon and the presence of a patellar spur. The available standard pre-operative lateral radiographs were examined to see if a patellar spur was an indicator for rupture of the quadriceps tendon in this group of patients. Of the 107 patients, 12 underwent repair of a ruptured patellar tendon, 59 had an open reduction and internal fixation of a patellar fracture and 36 repair of a ruptured quadriceps tendon.

Diagnostic cerebral angiography in spontaneous intracranial haemorrhage: a guide for developing countries.

Objective: Spontaneous intracranial haemorrhage constitutes 18-40% of all stroke cases. Indications for cerebral angiography to find underlying potentially treatable vascular abnormalities are not clear. This study determined which intracranial haemorrhage patients need cerebral angiography by correlating computed tomography (CT) findings, age and hypertension history with cerebral angiography findings.
