Surgical correction of pulmonary artery sling with vascular ring in a 2 1/2-year-old boy is described. Despite the high mortality rate of this entity, the post-operative course was uneventful and since hospital discharge, the boy has remained asymptomatic.

In all the patients, excepting one, a clinical, radiological and angiocardiographical study was performed. The associated anomalies were determining elements of the clinical situation; the patients with pulmonary obstruction and interventricular communication had cianosis, while the 4 patients with aortic obstruction or anomalies type left Ebstein show cardiac insufficiency.

Three corresponded to the group with small or hypoplastic right ventricle and five to the one with normal or enlarged right ventricular cavity. The electrocardiogram was of less value than plain chest radiography for the differential diagnosis of both groups.
