Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a complex multifactorial vascular pathology characterized by an increased pulmonary arterial pressure, vasoconstriction, remodelling of the pulmonary vasculature, thrombosis in situ and inflammation associated with right-side heart failure. Herein, we explored the potential beneficial effects of treatment with siRNA AP-1 on pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), right ventricular dysfunction along with perivascular and interstitial fibrosis in pulmonary artery-PA, right ventricle-RV and lung in an experimental animal model of monocrotaline (MCT)-induced PAH.

Methods: Golden Syrian hamsters were divided into: (1) C group-healthy animals taken as control; (2) MCT group obtained by a single subcutaneous injection of 60 mg/kg MCT at the beginning of the experiment; (3) MCT-siRNA AP-1 group received a one-time subcutaneous dose of MCT and subcutaneous injections containing 100 nM siRNA AP-1, every two weeks.

Aim: Fibrocystic mastosis (FCM) is defined by the totality of dystrophic changes of the mammary tissue, the grouping in the form of fibrosis of epithelial, cystic, metaplastic and hyperplastic alterations. A very good estimation of the cancer risk is related specifically to the microscopic aspect. Other factors, the family history as well as the presence of an inherited gene determining the increase in the risk of breast cancer are also considered.

In-vitro evaluation of the interaction of anticancer drug mitoxantrone with anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), was performed in physiological conditions (phosphate buffer, pH 7.4) by spectral (UV-vis absorption) and electrochemical (cyclic and linear voltammetry) methods. The stoichiometry of interaction, the binding constants and diffusion coefficients of free and bound drug were determined.

Aluminum compounds have been used as adjuvants in practical vaccination for more than 60 years to induce an early, an efficient and a long lasting protective immunity. Nowadays they are the most widely used adjuvants in both veterinary and human vaccines. Unfortunately these adjuvants do not only cause undesirable side effects, but often induce T-helper type 2 (Th2)-biased responses.
