Online Training and Self-assessment in the Histopathologic Classification of Endocervical Adenocarcinoma and Diagnosis of Pattern of Invasion: Evaluation of Participant Performance.

Histopathologic classification of endocervical adenocarcinomas (EAC) has recently changed, with the new system based on human papillomavirus (HPV)-related morphologic features being incorporated into the 5th edition of the WHO Blue Book (Classification of Tumours of the Female Genital Tract). There has also been the introduction of a pattern-based classification system to assess invasion in HPV-associated (HPVA) endocervical adenocarcinomas that stratifies tumors into 3 groups with different prognoses. To facilitate the introduction of these changes into routine clinical practice, websites with training sets and test sets of scanned whole slide images were designed to improve diagnostic performance in histotype classification of endocervical adenocarcinoma based on the International Endocervical Adenocarcinoma Criteria and Classification (IECC) and assessment of Silva pattern of invasion in HPVA endocervical adenocarcinomas.

BK virus infection in human immunodeficiency virus-infected patients.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of BK virus (BKV) infection in HIV-positive patients receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in our hospital. The presence of BKV was analysed in urine and plasma samples from 78 non-selected HIV-infected patients. Clinical data were recorded using a pre-established protocol.

A distinctive translocation carcinoma of the kidney; "rosette forming," t(6;11), HMB45-positive renal tumor: a histomorphologic, immunohistochemical, ultrastructural, and molecular genetic study of 4 cases.

To date, only a few cases of "rosette forming t(6;11), HMB45-positive renal carcinoma" have been published. In this article, we contribute further data on 4 cases of this rare entity. Patients were 3 women and 1 man with an age range of 20 to 54 years (median, 23 years).

Intratumoral heterogeneity of immunohistochemical marker expression in breast carcinoma: a tissue microarray-based study.

Core needle biopsies of breast carcinomas provide diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive information before neoadjuvant therapy. Possible intratumoral heterogeneity of biomarker expression questions the validity of core needle biopsy interpretation in small biopsy specimens. Using tissue microarray (TMA) technology, we studied intratumoral heterogeneity of 7 immunomarkers.

Renal oncocytoma with and without intravascular extension into the branches of renal vein have the same morphological, immunohistochemical and genetic features.

We attempted to investigate the clinicopathological correlation of renal oncocytoma (RO) with renal vein extension. We identified seven ROs with extension into the branches of renal vein. The age of seven patients ranged from 61 to 82 years.
