Patients with diabetes polyneuropathy are at a heightened risk for developing foot ulcers, often due to dynamic plantar foot pressure patterns that lead to increased pressure and shear forces in specific foot areas. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of foot insoles on peak pressure and the pressure-time integral in patients with polyneuropathy diabetic foot ulcers over a twelve-week period followed by an eight-week follow up. : This was a prospective, randomized, double-blinded, controlled clinical trial involving 60 patients aged between 50 and 65 years of both genders.

Article Synopsis
  • - Hypertension is a leading cause of heart disease and death globally, and low-dose combination therapy using amlodipine, telmisartan, and chlorthalidone shows promise for safe and effective management according to a systematic review.
  • - The review analyzed randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to assess the effectiveness of this combination therapy, focusing on changes in blood pressure and adverse effects, finding three RCTs that met quality standards.
  • - Results indicated significant improvements in blood pressure control and a low risk of serious side effects; however, variations in dosages and control groups suggest further research is necessary to fully understand the long-term outcomes and factors influencing treatment responses.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares a new levator dissection-resection (LDR) surgical technique to two standard frontalis-based procedures for treating congenital ptosis with poor levator function in thirty patients.
  • All three surgical groups showed significant improvement in eyelid elevation (measured by MRD-1) after six months, with the LDR group also benefiting from improved levator function and symmetry during eye movement.
  • Overall, the LDR technique provided similar eyelid elevation to the frontalis methods while offering better results in levator function and symmetry, with no increased risk to the patients' corneas.

Objective:  Recurrent miscarriage has been linked to hormonal disturbance due to dysregulation of its receptors rather than to the availability of the hormone. We aimed to investigate endometrial expression of progesterone and estrogen receptors in relation to serum and endometrial hormonal levels in unexplained recurrent miscarriage.

Methods:  The present case control study included 20 cases with unexplained recurrent miscarriage and 20 parous women as controls.

Kidney transplantation is a major risk factor for severe forms of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The dynamics and the persistence of the immune response to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in this immunocompromised population remain largely unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the persistence of humoral and cellular immune response in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) and to establish whether immunosuppressive therapy influenced long-term immunity in this population.
