Using the methods of light and electron microscopy, the structure of gingiva was studied in rats subjected to thermal burn of the skin of 3A degree. The data obtained indicate that in the period following the burn, in gingival epithelium the intercellular space were dilated, the numerical density of desmosomes was diminished, that indicated the reduction of its barrier properties. Erythrocyte stasis, swelling of endotheliocytes of blood capillaries, the decrease of numerical density of ribosomes and of volume density of all types of micropinocytotic vesicles in them suggest the disturbance of microcirculation in gingiva in the post-burn period.
