The purpose of the study is to establish characteristics of quality of life of adolescents and substantiate it as a reference criterion of pre-nosologic condition of health for mass screening observations of adolescent population. During puberty, in adolescents, mainly in girls, deterioration of quality of life is established. At that, minimal indices of quality of life were registered in adolescents 12 years old, that is probably conditioned by decreasing of level of functioning of central and respiratory systems against the background of vegetative balance disorders in this age group as compared with students of other age groups.

The article presents the results of a study of factual nutrition and nutritional status of schoolchildren and grammar schoolchildren. The data obtained indicate that the nutrition of pupils is irrational and inadequate and does not satisfy the needs of the body of the grammar-schoolchildren in nutrients, which leads to a decrease in the level of efficiency, adaptive reserve capacity of the body and the low supply of vitamin B2, A, E, compared with schoolchildren.

The paper presents the data of a study of biological and sociopsychological adjustment in the first graders of a gymnasium. It is shown that is less strained regulatory processes due to the enhanced activity of the parasympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system and to reduced impacts of the sympathetic nervous system, as well as increased functional reserves, better biological adjustment, and a larger number of children with normal sociopsychological adjustment during an academic year.

The paper gives the results of studying the nutrition of Orenburg schoolchildren from different age groups and evaluating its influence on their nutritional status. The findings suggest that the nutrition of schoolchildren from different age groups is improper and inadequate due to the low nutritive value of children's diets, inadequate macro- and micronutrient intake and to unbalanced diets which result in impaired alimentary status, as suggested by a larger proportion of children with inadequate and excess nutritional status and with significant and drastically decreased functional reserves.

The functional status of preschool children was studied in relation to the sanitary-and-hygienic well-being, by evaluating the functional status of the cardiovascular and central nervous systems. Under poor sanitary-and-hygienic well-being, the children were ascertained to have lower indices of the cardiovascular and central nervous systems than those under satisfactory sanitary-and-hygienic well-being.
