Open surgery: Still a great option to treat patients with post-traumatic arteriovenous fistulas: A case report.

Background: In the modern era of endovascular surgery percutaneous interventions are being widely used to treat a number of vascular disorders including arteriovenous fistulas (AVF). Still, patients with hostile anatomy or complicated cases such as large post-traumatic AVFs may be successfully treated using conventional vascular surgery.

Case Summary: This paper presents state-of-the-art treatment options in subjects with post-traumatic AVFs and a case-report of a successful open surgical approach in a patient with a 25 year old history of a post-traumatic AVF between the common femoral artery and common femoral vein.

[Mandible bone grafting by intraoral access].

The efficiency of intraoral approach to reconstruction defects of the mandibula was analyzed. Received results testified to high efficiency of intraoral approach to bone plastic of mandibula as the way allowing to achieve decrease of number of postoperative complications, terms of rehabilitation of patients and to ensure optimum anatomofunctional and aesthetic results.

[Estimation of tracheal intubation methods in patients with pathology of maxillofacial region].

In 42 patients with pathology of face cranium tracheal intubation was performed by different methods--intubation with artificial jet high frequency lung ventilation (I+AJHFV) and fiber optic intubation (FOI). It was established that more favourable conditions for intubation were created when I+AJHFV was used. FOI with preserved consciousness and spontaneous breathing in patients with pathology of maxillofacial region reduces the time factor significance but demands significant sedative preparation of the patient.

[Reconstruction of the visceral cranium by the replantation of a resected bone segment subjected to extracorporeal freezing in benign tumors and dysplastic processes].

The new method for surgical treatment of benign tumors and dysplastic processes in the facial skull bones includes resection of the involved segment of the bone, its mechanical treatment, extracorporeal freezing, sterilization, and replantation. Biophysical studies revealed that 10-min freezing of the preparation in liquid nitrogen followed by slow defrosting kills tumor cells. Animal experiments demonstrated excellent osteoplastic properties of thus treated replants.

[Mandibular resection and reconstruction by an intraoral approach].

Resection and reconstruction of the mandible by intraoral way. The results of resection and reconstruction of the mandible for 12 patients with benign tumors and dysplastic processes by intraoral way are introduced. Indications and the surgery are developed and long-term outcomes are considered.
