Background: Brugada syndrome (BrS) is a genetic heart disease that predisposes individuals to ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. Although implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and quinidine are primary treatments, recurrent BrS-triggered ventricular arrhythmias can persist. In this setting, epicardial substrate ablation has emerged as a promising alternative for symptomatic patients.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the "obesity paradox" in COPD patients, focusing on how body mass index (BMI) relates to mortality rates.
  • A systematic review of 120 studies showed that while being underweight increases mortality risk, being overweight or obese is associated with lower mortality risk, establishing a U-shaped relationship with BMI.
  • The research highlights specific BMI inflection points where the protective benefits begin to decline, indicating that extremely high BMI values can negate these benefits in relation to various types of mortality.

Background: The Behaviour Change Techniques Taxonomy v1 (BCTTv1) is the most widely used classification of behaviour change techniques (BCTs), contributing to the accurate report and evaluation of behaviour change interventions and accumulation of evidence. This study reports a structured approach to adapt the BCTTv1 into European Portuguese (BCTTv1-PT).

Methods: A collaborative and iterative approach was used.

(1) Background: This study aims to assess visceral fat values, waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), and body fat percentage for their ability to predict poor outcomes during COVID-19 patients' hospitalization; (2) Methods: This study was a prospective cohort of mild-moderate COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital from December 2020 to March 2021. This study includes hospitalized patients over 18 diagnosed with COVID-19 using RT-PCR.

Recently, a new 2D carbon allotrope called Irida-Graphene (Irida-G) was proposed, and its reliable stability has been previously predicted. Irida-G is a flat sheet topologically arranged into 3-6-8 carbon rings exhibiting metallic and non-magnetic properties. In this study, we investigated the thermal transport properties of Irida-G using classical reactive molecular dynamics simulations.
