Novel palladium and nickel-sulfur clusters were synthesized using a diamidocarbene-derived carbon disulfide ligand. Structural characterization revealed a tetranuclear metal-sulfur cluster geometry with each metal center exhibiting square-planar coordination. The ligand was redox-active, accommodating oxidation states ranging from 0 to -2.

Fungi are cosmopolitan and they occupy diverse niches as consumers, producers, and decomposers. They play critical roles in the environment by enabling nutrient cycling and generating a plethora of secondary metabolites. This study aimed to identify and characterize fungal strains isolated from diverse sources on Muui Island, Republic of Korea.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate whether the degree of F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in the lungs is associated with an increased risk of lung cancer and to develop lung cancer risk prediction models using metabolic parameters on F-18 FDG positron emission tomography (PET).

Methods: We retrospectively included 795 healthy individuals who underwent F-18 FDG PET/CT scans for a health check-up. Individuals who developed lung cancer within 5 years of the PET/CT scan were classified into the lung cancer group (n = 136); those who did not were classified into the control group (n = 659).

Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, red-pink-coloured, rod-shaped and non-motile bacterial strains PAMC 29290, PAMC 29294 and PAMC 29296 were isolated from marine surface sediment sampled in the East Siberian Sea and strains PAMC 26553 and PAMC 26554 were obtained from an Antarctic lichen. Strains PAMC 29290, PAMC 29294 and PAMC 29296 were closely related to (98.8 % 16S rRNA gene similarity), (97.

The diversity of lichen-associated bacteria from lichen taxa , , , , , and was investigated by sequencing of 16S gene amplicons. Physiological characteristics of the cultured bacterial isolates were investigated to understand possible roles in the lichen ecosystem. Proteobacteria (with a relative abundance of 69.

Two Gram-stain-negative, facultative anaerobic, chemoheterotrophic, pink-coloured, rod-shaped and non-motile bacterial strains, PAMC 26568 and PAMC 26569, were isolated from an Antarctic lichen. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strains PAMC 26568 and PAMC 26569 belong to the family and the most closely related species are (96.1 %), (95.

Lichens are miniature ecosystems that contain fungi, microalgae, and bacteria. It is generally accepted that symbiosis between mycobiont and photobiont and microbial contribution to the ecosystem support the wide distribution of lichens in terrestrial ecosystems, including polar areas. The composition of symbiotic components can be affected by subtle microenvironmental differences within a thallus, as well as large-scale climate differences.

Two Gram-stain-negative, facultative anaerobic chemoheterotrophic, pink-coloured, rod-shaped and non-motile bacterial strains, PAMC 29128 and PAMC 29148, were isolated from lichen. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strains PAMC 29128 and PAMC 29148 belong to lichen-associated -1 (LAR1), an uncultured phylogenetic lineage of the order and the most closely related genera were (<93.9 %) and (<93.

[Purpose] Although much researches have been conducted on the hippotherapy, the intervention methods of the previous studies focus on the pelvis posture. Thus, this study analyzed the electromyogram (EMG) of trunk muscle and lower limb muscle to analyze the kinetic factors. Based on the analysis, this study aims to compare the muscle load and suggest effective exercise method.

Article Synopsis
  • The Atribacteria JS1 lineage is a significant group of bacteria found in anoxic (oxygen-poor) sediments, particularly where organic material or gas hydrates are present.
  • Research conducted in the Ross Sea, Antarctica, identified Atribacteria JS1 as the most abundant bacterial candidate phylum, comprising up to 40.8% of the local microbial community.
  • Single-cell genomic analysis revealed specific metabolic capabilities of this lineage, suggesting it plays a key role in fermentative processes and interactions with methane-producing organisms in these environments.
