Prospective Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of ACTLINK Plasma Treatment for Promoting Osseointegration and Bone Regeneration in Dental Implants.

Recent studies have explored surface treatments, such as increasing the hydrophilicity of implant fixtures, to enhance the osseointegration of implants. This prospective clinical study aimed to assess the clinical stability and efficacy of plasma treatment applied to implants with sandblast-acid etching (SLA) surfaces before placement. Twenty-eight patients requiring implant placement provided consent and were assigned randomly to either the SLA group without plasma treatment or the SLA/plasma group with plasma treatment.

Margin positivity after hilar resection (HR) for bile duct cancer is commonly observed due to its longitudinal spread along the subepithelial plane; nevertheless, we cannot draw conclusions regarding the prognostic effects of margins with high-grade dysplasia (HGD) or carcinoma. We aimed to investigate the oncologic effect according to the margin status after HR, particularly between the R1 HGD and the R1 carcinoma. From 2008 to 2017, 149 patients diagnosed with mid-bile duct cancer in Samsung Medical Center, South Korea, were divided according to margin status after HR and retrospectively analyzed.

The automation of organic compound synthesis is pivotal for expediting the development of such compounds. In addition, enhancing development efficiency can be achieved by incorporating autonomous functions alongside automation. To achieve this, we developed an autonomous synthesis robot that harnesses the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotic technology to establish optimal synthetic recipes.

Various types of reconstruction after pancreaticoduodenectomy for the patients who underwent all types of gastrectomy: a single-enter experience.

Purpose: The incidence of patients requiring pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) following any type of gastrectomy is increasing as the population of elderly patients is increasing, especially in endemic areas of gastric cancer such as Korea. All types of gastrectomy can be categorized as subtotal gastrectomy with Billroth I (BI), Billroth II (BII), and total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y anastomosis. In this paper, we reviewed our experiences of PD for patients who previously underwent gastrectomy.

Unfavorable effect of high postoperative fluid balance on outcome of pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Purpose: Despite the many efforts to overcome postoperative complications, pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is still accompanied with considerable concerns of lethal complications. The clinical factors are known to affect postoperative outcomes such as diameter of pancreatic duct, texture of pancreas, and comorbidity of the patients are mostly uncorrectable. Thus, investigation for correctable risk factors is required.

RANTES 59029A/G Polymorphisms Associated with Diabetic Compilations in Korean Patients with Type 2 Diabetes for over 15 Years.

Background: Polymorphisms in the RANTES gene are known to be associated with several diseases related to insulin resistance. In this study, we investigated the association between RANTES 59029A/G polymorphisms and the prevalence of diabetic complications relative to obesity in Korean patients who had type 2 diabetes (T2D) for over 15 years.

Noise distraction and mental practice in closed and open motor skills.

Two experiments were conducted to investigate whether mental practice can serve as an effective intervention strategy for decreasing interference effects of distracting noise at the time of executing open (badminton service return) and closed (badminton serve) skills. In Experiment 1, 44 male students participated and in Experiment 2, 36 students participated. In both experiments, students were randomly assigned to one of three groups: (a) mental practice, (b) mental practice plus noise distraction (MPD), and (c) control.
