Unfavorable environmental conditions and inappropriate culture practices have increased the vulnerability of cultured fish to disease infection. Up to date many studies have aimed to determine a feeding regimen to maximize productivity; however, very little information on immune responses of cultured fish in response to underfeeding or overfeeding is available. Therefore, a preliminary study was conducted to evaluate effects of graded feeding levels (i.

Interferon-stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) is known to interfere with viral replication and infection by limiting the viral infection of cells. Interferon-stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) interferes with viral replication and infectivity by limiting viral infection in cells. It also plays an important role in the immune response.

Article Synopsis
  • A new lily-type lectin gene (RbLTL) was cloned from rock bream, revealing a protein of 117 amino acids with essential structural features like a B-lectin domain and d-mannose binding sites.
  • RbLTL mRNA is mainly expressed in the gills, with lower levels in the intestine, and its expression increases over time in fertilized eggs before decreasing after 36 hours.
  • The study suggests that RbLTL plays a significant role in the innate immune response of rock bream against pathogens like Streptococcus iniae and Edwardsiella tarda.

Monoclonal antibodies were generated against recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (rec-FSH) from Japanese eel Anguilla japonica; rec-FSH was produced in Escherichia coli and purified using Ni-NTA Sepharose column chromatography. In support of our recent publication, "Production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies against recombinant tethered follicle-stimulating hormone from Japanese eel Anguilla japonica" [1], it was important to characterize the specificity of eel follicle-stimulating hormone antibodies. Here, the production and ELISA system of these monoclonal antibodies are presented.

This study is conducted to monitor the morphological developmental features of the egg development, larvae and juvenile of Epinephelus septemfasciatus, the fertilized eggs were gotton using artificial insemination. Matured parents are collected from marine caged fish farms in Geomun-ri, Samsan-myeon, Yeosu-si, Jeollanamdo Korea in June 2012. The fertilized eggs were pelagic eggs containing one oil globule, and measured 0.

Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV), a type species of aquabirnaviruses in the family Birnaviridae, is an etiological agent of infectious pancreatic necrosis and has been isolated from epizootics of cultured salmonids. In the present study, an epithelioma papulosum cyprini (EPC) cell line persistently infected with IPNV (PI-EPC) was experimentally established by subculturing EPC cells surviving IPNV infection, and was characterized. PI-EPC cells were morphologically indistinguishable from EPC, but continued to grow and yield IPNV.
