Purpose of this study was to compare the complication rates between reverse-tapered and nontapered peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs). In total, 407 patients who had an inpatient clinic-based PICC insertion between September 2019 and November 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Seven PICC types were used (4 reverse tapered: 4-Fr single-lumen (n = 75), 5-Fr single-lumen (n = 78), 5-Fr double-lumen (n = 62), and 6-Fr triple-lumen (n = 61); 3 nontapered: 4-Fr single-lumen (n = 73), 5-Fr double-lumen (n = 30), and 6-Fr triple-lumen (n = 23)).

Multidrug resistance (MDR) phenotype is characterized by over-expression of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) on the cancer cell plasma membrane that extrudes drugs out of the cells. Therefore, novel MDR reversal agents are desirable for combination therapy to reduce MDR and enhance anti-tumor activity.

Since the plasma level of isorhamnetin is maintained longer than quercetin, isorhamnetin may be a key metabolite to mediate the anti-tumor effect of quercetin. In the present study, we investigated the apoptotic mechanism of isorhamnetin in Lewis lung cancer (LLC) cells in vitro and established its in vivo anti-cancer efficacy.

Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) and Akt modulate the transcription of many genes involved in the inflammatory process. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effects of Eleutherococcus senticosus on the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-activated macrophages.

The central nervous system, particularly the hypothalamus, is capable of modulating the cytolytic activity of adherent natural killer (NK) cells. In addition, electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation of the Zusanli (ST36) acupoint enhances splenic NK cell and cytokine activities in rats.
